Suit filed against Extreme Fitness owner

November 4, 2009

by Ogi Overman

On October 13, 2009, Wrennovation Hunt Village, LLC, filed a civil suit against Accelerated Fitness, Inc. d/b/a Extreme Fitness. The defendant was Bruce Gregory Harrison and the amount demanded was “in excess of $10,000,” according to the court document.

But according to a ream of additional court documents seeking damages against Harrison, Wrennovation officer George Ragsdale may as well take a number and wait. And he may be waiting a long, long time.

A sampling of the civil suits pending against Harrison includes:

€ Temporary Services Insurance LTD, a Cayman Islands exempt corporation, vs. U.S. Staffing and its affiliated branches in North Carolina and 10 other states.

€ Columbo Yachts, Inc. vs. Harrison et al.

€ Aquent LLC vs. Harrison, Compensation Management, Inc. d/b/a U.S. Funding, Inc.

€ Foreclosure of a property in Harrison's name at 212 Country Club Dr., Greensboro. The property was sold at a foreclosure sale for $299,040.60.

Harrison was also a partner in SymPics, a local movie production studio that produced the film “Pucked” that was never picked up for theatrical release and cost a number of prominent local investors several million dollars.

The status of his $1.6 million residence at 4306 Hoke Lane, on the Sedgefield Country Club golf course, is unclear.

The Extreme Fitness Center in question, at 5004 C High Point Road in the Hunt Village Shopping Center, closed abruptly during the evening of Sept. 29. Crews were seen moving fitness equipment out of the building, the Greensboro Police were summoned, and the equipment was moved back into the building. It remains vacant.

Harrison's whereabouts are unknown.
